April 15th : It begins

Have you ever had a friend, ask a favor of you, that wasn't a big deal, you didn't really have to go out of your way to fulfill this favor...but still, slightly inconvenient?
Mmmm yes well, welcome to carrying a bag of Juanitas tortilla chips from Bend Oregon, to Kathmandu Nepal.
What kind of friend would I be if I didn't ask Liz if she wanted me to bring her something yummy that would make Asia feel a little more like home?! And out of everything in the world she had to pick a bag of chips made in hood river, yay.
So the tortilla chips and I had a long road ahead of us.  Hopefully they wont get crazy smashed and make it through...I hope the same with me.

West coast party on East Coast! It was amazing to spend time with great friends that I haven't seen in awhile. We all met up for needed trip to the city to get our India Visas. Appointment at the India embassy in Manhattan was at 10:00 a.m. we were stuck in the car in traffic in Brooklyn at 9:30...are you kidding me?! All i could think of is I FAIL. However, we switched to plan B, left George to man the car, and ran to the nearest subway that led us to Manhattan. We arrived at the Embassy at 10:10 a.m. YES! I felt there was hope.

Until...the bouncer at the door said our visa/passport pictures weren't good enough "quality". So we ran 2 blocks away to get new passport pictures in the most ghetto corner shop I have ever seen...as in,  I sat on a trash can in front of a white sheet next to scope mouthwash while an Indian man took my picture (have i arrived in India already???) the man gave the pictures to us in a cardboard pouch that we could carry back because they were still wet and could potentially smear.
10:45 a.m. my passport were checked in to apply for my visa
Tyese behind me, two people back in line, her passport was checked in at 10:51 a.m.

Somehow during those 6 minutes my passport left to go to the embassy and Tyese's sadly, was left behind. Which means I got my passport back the same day...and she had to wait until the morning we few out to grab it, nothing like waiting until the last minute.

notice the 'legit' passport photo in the right corner

We of course filled the rest of our day with a lovely stroll through central park and delicious food.

Oh friends...I missed you
Gorgeous day in central park

oh coffee...it just isn't comparable to Bend's
