Last week we were off on a bus...again. For the first 11 hours to Bangkok I tried to calculate out how much of my recent life I have spent on a bus....lets just say it was an excessive amount. We have come to the realization throughout our travels that night buses are indeed the way to go. Its like a hotel on wheels, and while we do get the most comfortable nights sleep, it is SO cool to wake up and be in a whole other city. This bus ride gives you water and food...I guess that should be expected when your trapped in a metal box on wheels for so long. The "food", if you could call it that, consists of the whitest bleached bread I have ever seen in my life with a thin slice of what they call "fake ham" (I dont ever want to know what that means) smashed in the middle of the bread with a side of shrimp 'flavored' chips and a bread roll filled with bean paste in case you get the munchies later. Needless to say I eat before I get on the bus and bring my own snacks...
This time we Bussed to Bangkok for the Special Assembly day. Our BKK friend Chali was amazing enough to meet us at the all to famous "JJ market" one of the biggest outdoor markets in southern Asia. It was impressively massive. People have been telling us that Bangkok is the place to shop, and I dont think we quite believed them it until we saw it ourselves. Malls upon markets upon malls...I have never seen so much shopping in my life.

Natalie, a sister from Paris that moved to BKK last year let us crash at her place for the weekend. She was a professional dancer before she learned the truth, started pioneering, and moved to asia to help thai, english, and french speakers...she thoroughly entertained us.
The Assembly!
It was so encouraging. I had already been to it this year, but it was so nice to see all the brothers and sisters associated with the English congregations in all of Thailand meet together. To meet people from your own country and have conversations made you feel a little more at home. We even ran in to a couple from Portland Oregon, and durring small talk they told us they frequented our favorite Gluten Free Bakery *Tula* with Caleb and Meika...what a small world. There was 290 in attendance, and one married couple got baptized, they were Thai but fluent in English and learned the truth straight from the preaching work. The Assembly was held in a lecture room at a University, so we all had little miniature desks to put our Bibles on and take notes, it was to exciting!
| This was the room right outside of the auditorium, filled with all the traveling brothers and sisters luggage, I thought it was so cute to see...everyone traveled a very long way to get here. |
| At lunch it was announced to go eat lunch at the local food vendors...unlike home, people in Thailand simply dont pack food for anything...even the assembly, how convenient! |
After our 36 hour whirlwind of a mini adventure in the city we loaded on another night bus and headed 13 hours south to THE BEACH!!
Krabi, phi phi island, and Phuket was next on the agenda.
An hour before we were to arrive in Krabi our bus broke down...everyone and their luggage that was on the bus as pictured below crammed into the back of a truck. Some literally standing on the bumper holding on while we drove the other hour in close company...its ok, you couldn't help but make friends on the way.
Pictures of the beach to come!
