The Day That Never Ends

As Matthew would Ask: "What I dont get is that when nobody out here is working, why do we need to cram in 1/4 of our ours for the month in one day??"

I will answer that question with another question: "why not??"

The day that never ended indeed came and went, but here is a run dont of how long it really was.

5:00 a.m. we roll up to the first of many service meetings of the day. About 10 of us huddle in a circle in the dark, in front of a closed grocery store. Off we went to the local markets that were surprisingly bustling with people at such an early hour.
Yes, some were still snuggled in their hammocks strung from the back of their trucks that lined the streets filled with fresh veggies from the Hill Tribe crops, surely waiting for the sun to rise before they opened their eyes....but others were happy to talk.

By 6:30 a.m. we were in a full-on monsoon downpour. Drenched. Wring out your skirt drenched. I ducked through a waterfall coming off the roof to a covered area...spotted my next "victim", said what i could to this particular thai man and then huddled in the corner with a few others waiting for the rain to dissipate (it never did). I was watching the man that i had just left the truth tract with intensely read it, he then jumped down from his truck, came over to us and wanted to know more. His daughter was very sick and he wanted to know if these promises of a perfect future were actually true. Fortunately  i was plopped next to two brothers that were fluent in thai so they took over, pulling our their Bible and meeting invitations... a great way to start the day!

By 9:00 a.m. (our regular service meeting time) It was as if we had already lived one day. The back room was packed-out, seeing all the support for Saturday service is so encouraging.

The morning consisted of door to door....or should I say gate to gate...

At 1:30 we split to do calls, our call that was at least 45 minutes was unfortunately not there...'tis life. And on the way back we blew our tire, yep completely split our back tire...GAH!  It's like the 4th time this has happened since we got here. We went to pull over so i could hop off and Tyese could go find bike shop, as she veered off in a driveway off the highway I looked up and saw a man with a spare tire in hand....could it be a bike shop, really?! Yes. I love thailand. Within 15 minutes we were on our way to the next service meeting.
The late afternoon we had to mix it up and to some letter writing....but this time, in THAI!

8:00 p.m. I must say I was going delirious ...we just wont post any pictures taken from that time...

9:00 p.m. we all meet again and regroup for late night service stations...we entertained ourselves by singing our favorite songs in between stops....

11:00 p.m. WE MADE IT!!!
All finished for a night cap at Cliff and Wendys to talk about all the encouraging experiences we had that day.
